How to hook up a dryer pigtail?

The 4-pronged plug on your dryer conforms ot the new code requirements. You will have to hire an electrician to change out your 3-pronged outlet to a 4-pronged style to accept the new 4-pronged plug on your Stove/Range. It would be illegal (against the National Electrical Code) to change the plug on the Dryer to the old 3-pronged type. If you had an accident or a fire due to a plug change, the insurance company could refuse to pay out. So upgrade your 3 pronged outlet to a 4-pronged style outlet and leave the dryer wiring as you found it with the 4-pronged connector!
